Born at 34 weeks on 26th Nov 2010, our little princess spent 4 weeks in NICU fighting against prematurity and related issues.
We as her parents were heartbroken as we were told by doctors that she wouldn't make it but she survived against all odds. Prematurity has been an issue & with time she has missing milestones in her development for which doctors suggest physiotherapy
For years exercises and stretches has been part of our daughter's routine and recently we came to know about SDR surgery which can help our daughter walk and become more independent
When she was 1 year old we started her physio and it helped her crawl instead of creeping like a soldier she used to do earlier .It also helped her walk with a walker .
We used both anterior and posterior walkers and it took us hours /days and months to get her adjusted to walk with help of walkers fully.
I personally think she used to walk better on anterior walker as it used to give her less support while her PT suggested posterior walkers will be better for her weak back which turned out to be less useful and making her more dependent
It was difficult for Ayesha to self sit for more than 10 mins as she used to fall on either sides dues to spasticity in her legs so her PT started making her sit in W position which was more stable for her but eventually we figured out it was the worst that we could have made her learn as it further weakened her back and to date she sits in W position till she is asked repeatedly to change her position to criss cross indian style sitting
All those following Ayesha's progress please don't let your kid sit in W-position ever even if your PT suggests it as its the worst you can do to your kids Hip muscles/back muscles and bone .Later I researched on it and found out that different researched also point towards the adverse affects of W-sitting in kids
